Moruf Haruna has died after he was brustalised by NDLEA officials

A company driver attached to a transport outfit, Vintage Transport and Logistics located  in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, Moruf Haruna, has died after he was allegedly brutalised by officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, (NDLEA), in the Abaji area of Kogi State, Punch reports.
It was gathered that the 40-year-old Haruna, was stopped for a search by the anti-drug agency at a checkpoint by seven officers of the agency and during an altercation, the officers manhandled the man with one of them kicking him in the stomach, resulting in his death.
Haruna’s conductor identified as Matthew, said that they were on their way to Jos, Plateau State, when the sad incident happened.

“We were going to Jos around 5am on Saturday, July 2. The NDLEA officers were seven and their leader held a gun. Others held clubs. One of them stopped our truck and we tried to park by the roadside. While doing that, he hurled insults at us.
When my boss (Haruna) came down, the officer first beat him with a club. My boss told him there was no reason for the abuse as we were carrying lawful goods. The officer got angry and kicked him in the stomach.
He fell and the officer marched on his stomach. It was when they noticed he was not moving that they decided to rush him to a hospital.
He died in Jos on Monday around 4am. I am still at the hospital as an autopsy will be conducted on him.”
The Managing Director, Vintage Transport and Logistics, Lekan Akinkiitan, said Haruna had worked with the company for 10 years before the tragedy.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson for the NDLEA, Mitchell Ofoyeju, said Haruna  tried to resist the officers from carrying out their lawful duties and in the process, he sustained injuries during the search.
Ofoyeju added that after first-aid treatment was given to the driver, he was discharged and the agency had not been briefed that he had died.may his soul rest in peace

Shinkafi the former director of General of the Nigerian security organization is dead

Alhaji Shinkafi died on Wednesday in London at about 4:07 pm Nigerian time. A top source who spoke in confidence said the late Marafan Sokoto had initially received treatment at both St. Nicholas Hospital and Reddington Hospital, Ikeja in Lagos before he was flown abroad in January after a health relapse,The Nation reports:

    “We lost Shinkafi in London at about 4pm where he was flown to in January with some members of his immediate family and three medical doctors. In the last six months, he had been battling with his health. But it has pleased Allah to call him home. From Allah we came and unto Him we shall return. Arrangements are being made to bring his corpse to Nigeria for burial on or before Friday because of flight logistics.”

Shinkafi was a former Director-General of the Nigerian Security Organization (NSO), now Department of State Security Service ( DSS) from October 1979 to November 1983.xxxHe is survived by three wives and five children including, Zainab, wife of Kebbi State Governor, Atiku Bagudu and Hadiza, wife of Zamfara State Governor, Abdul Azeez Yari.may his soul rest on with Allah

Peace mass transit involved in another ghastly accident

Another ghastly accident involving a commercial bus belonging to the Peace Mass Transport Company, with serious casualties, has been recorded, where no single passenger survived.
According to reports, the bus with 19 passengers on board, was travelling from Enugu to Bayelsa State when it was involved in a head-on collision with a truck along the Emezi Road at Okogbe town, leaving all the passengers and the driver, including a baby, dead on the spot.

Eyewitnesses say that shortly after the accident, some unknown men drove to the scene of the crash and tried to clean the name of the bus but hurriedly left when people started to gather.
In the past two months, vehicles belonging to the company have been involved in fatal accidents ahich has claimed the lives of Nigerians including one that happened on Sunday, May 22, along Umuahia-Okigwe road, when a Peace Mass Transit Limited owned commercial bus collided with a utility truck used for conveying of goods, killing 13 passengers on board.

The driver later identified as Amber Willemsen, ran into Endy at an intersection, causing major damage to both of their vehicles and trapping Endy inside his car. A mentally deranged woman killed her 9 month old baby

A madwoman has left people in shock after she violently and brutally killed her own 9-month-old baby.A shocking incident has taken place at Amaduma-Adankwame near Nfansi in the Atwima Kwanwoma district of the Ashanti region, Ghana after a 23-year-old woman believed to be mentally deranged allegedly beat her 9-month-old baby boy, David Boateng, to death.
According to a report by Adom News,  the mentally deranged woman identified as Esther Agyei, who is currently in Police custody at the Abuakwa District Police for interrogation claims the child died as a result of some strange illness.
“The woman told the police that her child was sick of a sickness known as anemia but the husband refused to give her money to buy drugs  which led to the sudden demise of her child's death” Kwesi Debrah reported.
Residents told police that the baby was beaten, added to the malnutrition which contributed to his death.
Body of the baby has since been deposited at Afari community hospital morgue for autopsy.

Burial arragement for late OJB has been fixed

The family of late Nigerian music producer and artiste,  Babatunde Okungbowa, aka  OJB Jezreel  who passed on Tuesday, June 14, 2016 have released details for  his final burial rites. The respected music producer and singer battled with Kidney problems since 2013.
He was consequently  flown to India for a transplant in 2013, after the successful surgery, OJB Jezreel, showered praises on his first wife, Mama J, for being there for him and donating one of her kidneys to save his life and also on the people, Fans and Friends that gave supports monetarily and otherwise.

However, his kidney transplant failed again a week before his demise and OJB passed on.
Jigga, as he was fondly called by close friends and asosociate was prepararing  for his 50th birthday slated for 4th of July before his death.
 His body has been deposited in Farewell Funeral Homes, Isolo.
He is survived by his father, Chief Anthony Okungbowa(Arase of Agbor), Siblings, Mrs.Theresa Ebunola Gamba(USA), Mr. Cornelius Archibong(England), Mr. Albert Okungbowa(USA), Mr. Anthony Okungbowa, Marvin Okungbowa, Bose Ajila Okungbowa and Joseph Okungbowa. Wives, Mabel Babatunde Okungbowa, June Okungbowa,  and Korede Okungbowa with eight children.

Sad news:A woman in labour,her husband,brother inlaw killed in a car accident

A car conveying a woman in labor, her husband (the driver) and the brother to the husband has been involved in a ghastly accident, leaving all occupants of the car dead.
The accident occurred in Imo state around noon on Sunday, June 19, left rescuers and sympathizers in shock due to the gory scene of the accident.

As the time of filing this report, members of FRSC were present in the scene of the accident conveying the survivors in their van to the nearest hospital.

Ninteen persons lost their lives in an auto crash that occurred on Sunday along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.The accident occurred at about 1 p.m. around Fidiwo/Ajebo axis of the road and involved a tanker, laden with fuel with plate number, RAN 571 XA,and an 18-seater passenger bus ‎with registration number LAGOS AGL 373 XR and an articulated vehicle marked AJG 40 XA.
Mr Babatunde Akinbiyi, the Public Relations Officer of Ogun Traffic Compliance and Enforcement
Agency (TRACE)‎, confirmed the accident.
According to him, the fuel truck travelling towards Ibadan rammed into the articulated vehicle conveying cement, while trying to overtake it at a diversion, and collided with commercial bus heading towards Lagos. He said all the 19 occupants of the bus lost their lives on the spot, adding that evacuation was ongoing at the time of filing this report.
The evacuation, according to Akinbiyi, was done ‎with the combined teams of TRACE, men of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Nigeria Police.
