After rescuing 9-year-old Korede Taiwo, who was chained up at a Celestial Church in the state, last week, the members of the state police command have rescued a 10-year-old girl from the same dilemma.The victim identified as Promise Udeh, was reportedly chained up at their Adigbe residence in Abeokuta by her aunt, Chiamaka Okafor
Chiamaka is alleged to have chained Promise for stealing the sum of N4,000 from her. The members of the police force are now in search of Chiamaka  who has since fled her home.

Another Nigerian stabbed to death in the Uk

18 year old Kaleb Amponsah , has been found guilty of the stabbing to death, 27 year old Ade Afariogun  which took place on January 29th this year. On the day of the incident, Ade was in Plaistow Park with three female friends when they noticed Amponsah ride his bike past them on several occasions and staring aggressively at them.

As Ade was leaving the park, Amponsah confronted and started an argument with him. A scuffle ensued during which the two exchanged punches.

Ade’s friend attempted to intervene by pulling Amponsah away but Amponsah produced a large knife from his waistband, and stabbed Ade in his stomach twice. So brutal was the attack, that Ade received a 12cm injury to his abdomen. He was rushed to Royal London Hospital, but despite the best efforts of medical staff, he died during the early hours of Monday 1 February.
Immediately after the incident, Amponsah fled from the scene, leaving Ade bleeding on the ground. In his haste, he left behind his bike and mobile phone. This proved vital in the investigation as detectives were able to retrieve his DNA from both. After leaving the park, Amponsah called a friend and went straight to his address a few streets away from the murder scene. There he stayed for less than 20 minutes before getting a taxi to a street near his home address. He returned to his home for a brief period, changing his clothes in the process. He then took a second taxi from a nearby location to a friend who lived locally, where he spent the remainder of the afternoon.
On February 5th, Amponsah was arrested at his home address. Searches at the property revealed the clothing worn by the killer, and a large knife concealed within his mattress in his bedroom. At the court hearing yesterday July 28th, Ade’s step-dad, Kay Oluwa, said he had completed qualifications and was due to start a new job just days after he was stabbed to death by Kaleb Amponsah.
In a family witness statement, Mr Oluwa, wrote: “Ade was a great big brother to my two younger boys. He had committed crimes but he had done his time and was moving forward with his life. He has been snatched away from us and for what?” Mr Oluwa said Ade had been imprisoned for “horrible crimes” but that he had used his time in prison to study and focus on his career, after telling his parents he wanted to “change his life”. He added: “He was due to start work the Monday after he was killed. I can never explain to you what it is like as a family to receive a call like the one that we got on January 29 and I truly hope none of you ever have to experience it. My wife has been emotionally destroyed; she cannot process what has happened and we can’t talk to each other about it. The strain on our marriage as a result is huge. Neither of us are emotionally strong enough to cope and this trial has been devastating and placed a new cloud over us. My younger two sons are numb, upset and angry all in one. I have had to be strong for them but I am finding it hard. We may never know the true reason but I do know that Kaleb Amponsah has shown no remorse, shows no understanding of what he has done to our family and is a danger if he can kill someone over something so minor as a wrong look.”he said
A UK detective who spoke on Amponsah’s arrest said “Five months after the original charge, Amponsah admitted being responsible for the fatal stabbing but claimed he had acted in self-defence after the victim attacked him. Thankfully the jury saw through this unlikely scenario, recognising this for the needless and cold-blooded murder it was.
The park where this took place is well used by a wide range of borough residents and the local community should feel reassured that this type of attack is an extremely rare occurrence. Ade was in the park with friends when he was killed for reasons that we have been unable to ascertain.
He was well loved by his family and friends, who miss him very much.” Amponsah will be sentenced at the Old Bailey in the week commencing August 15th.

Late super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi was laid to rest today

The funeral of late Super Eagles great, Stephen Keshi has kicked off in Benin with a church service at St’ Paul Catholic Church, Benin City.The service which kicked off at about 11: am has family and friends of the former Super Eagles defender in attandance. After the church service, a novelty match organised by Austin Eguavoen will hold at Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin which would be followed by his body lying in state for fans to pay their last respect.Keshi’s body will then be moved to Asaba, Delta State capital for a lying in state at the Stephen Keshi Stadium at Nnebisi Road.From Asaba, the body will leave for Illah, his hometown where it will be received by the Obi of Illah, HRH Obi Gbemudu along with his high chiefs.A requiem mass will also hold in Keshi's honour at the St’ John, the Evangelist Catholic Church before his interment.

The former Super Eagles coach who won the African Cup of Nations as a player and manager was at his family house in Benin when he died.The former defender, Pulse Sports learnt was scheduled to return to his base in the United States later in the day.
According to a statement by the family spokesperson Emmanuel Ado, Keshi has been in the country since the funeral of his wife, Nkem Kate Keshi who died in December 2015.His death comes six months after his wife of 33 years, Kate, died in December, 2015 after a long battle with cancer.

LandLord kills his tenant of four months

The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a landlord, Gbade Metibemu, for allegedly stabbing his tenant of four months, Bright Abraham, to death on Apollo Street in the Makoko area of the state. PUNCH Metro learnt that Metibemu attacked the 35-year-old Abia State indigene with a knife for refusing to vacate his plank apartment after a week-long disagreement.
Our correspondent was told that the suspect had warned the victim to stop soiling the slum with the faeces of his baby.
When the warning did not yield any result, the suspect was reported to have threatened to kill Abraham.Last Thursday, around 10pm, the father of four was preparing to sleep when an argument ensued between him and the landlord which degenerated into a fight.

Metibemu was alleged to have got a knife with which he stabbed Abraham in the chest.
He allegedly rushed to the Adekunle Police Station to report that he had been injured by his tenant.
He was, however, detained when news filtered in that Abraham had died at the hospital where he was taken to for treatment.
A resident, who identified himself as Christian Nwankwo, said Metibemu always fought his tenants.

    He said, “Abraham packed into the house four months ago. He was well-behaved and good-mannered and those were attributes that endeared him to us. His room is beside the landlord’s.

    “However, about a week ago, the landlord started complaining that he should stop spreading children clothes on the washing line. He also complained about the faeces of his baby, which he said was soiling the house.“He started threatening him to leave or he would kill him. We thought it was a joke.Another resident, Ndubuisi Nkegba, said the victim had excused himself from a chat to go to bed that Thursday when he was stabbed.Just about 10 minutes after he left us to go to bed, we heard a noise. We rushed there and saw that he had been stabbed in the chest three times by the landlord. He was in a pool of blood. We rushed him to the Federal Medical Centre, Yaba, where he was confirmed dead.The landlord was said to have gone to the Adekunle Police Station with a friend, identified as Femi, to report the incident.He told the police that his tenant stabbed him. The police were taking his statement when some friends of the deceased, who were returning from the hospital, met him at the station. They told the police that the tenant was dead. The landlord’s friend, Femi, fled, but the landlord was detained.It was learnt that the wife and children of the victim had been taken to their family house''

Man who had been in a year-long custody battle over his two-year-old son got a shocking news on friday

Dillon Wyckoff who had been in a year-long custody battle over his two-year-old son, Mason Wyckoff got a tragic news on Friday that his little boy had passed away possibly at the hands of his mother. Emergency crews were called to his baby mama’s apartment where they found the deceased toddler alongside his unconscious mother, Stephenie Erickson.

He told the Des Moines Register:

    “He was everything in my world. She had threatened and threatened to do it, and she did it to hurt me. They haven’t proven anything yet, but I know down deep that’s what happened.It’s been a year-long battle with all this stuff, and it’s been going downhill…We prayed and prayed it wouldn’t be this''

Mason’s grandmother, Michel Cunningham, said they had lived in fear for months on end, worrying about Erickson’s mental stability especially after she told Wyckoff he would “never see his son again”:I tried contacting DHS (the Department of Human Services). We’ve dealt with over seven different police departments for over a year. They kept telling us that we had to wait for ‘something to happen.’ And look at what did.
Erickson who was found unconscious beside her 2 year old son was taken to a local hospital and remains in serious condition, though it’s not clear what injuries she sustained or how she got them.
Erickson’s neighbor said she’d “sit outside and smoke and cry” and never really talked to neighbours,
Wyckoff said of his son, Mason He was always fun, always doing something. He was just getting to the age where I could start doing fun stuff with him, I was looking forward to a lot, a lot of fun. What we had is what we had, I don’t regret any moment of it.”Amid an ongoing investigation into the incident, Wyckoff is certain that Erickson killed him.

The 14-year-old 'dalit' teenager from Delhi was reportedly tortured, repeatedly raped and force-fed acid before dying a painful death
The victim is said to have been drugged and raped by her family's neighbour, kidnapping, torturing and raping her prior to a court hearing in May this year.The Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chairperson, Swati Maliwal said:
She was forced to swallow a corrosive liquid, possibly an acid, by the man and 'died a very painful death."She adds that the neighbour, identified simply as Shivshankar, was arrested only after the DCW became involved in the case.
Ms Maliwal tweeted:

The girl was fed a corrosive substance which completely destroyed her internal organs and she died a very painful death.
There are so many questions we can raise over the police action in this case? Why was the accused not arrested? Why was the Prevention of Atrocities Act not applied in this case With parents of 14 year old victim. Very poor n inconsolable. How many Nirbhayas does Delhi want? Chief of Army Staff Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai yesterday warned that the Army will use force if the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) and other militant groups reject dialogue with the Federal Government.
Besides, Gen. Buratai said, the army will support civil authority during the elections in eight local governments, should there be a request for help.

According to the Nation, Gen. Buratai, who was represented by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 82 Division, Enugu, Maj.-Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, spoke yesterday after inaugurating the two-storey administrative headquarters complex, Olympic-size swimming pool and two other projects at the 2 Brigade of the Army, in Rivers State.
The army chief said:

     “Government is still committed to dialogue (with Niger Delta militants). Whereby this cannot go on, then there could be resort to other means. The non-kinetic means has always been the source first, before government can recourse to the kinetic means (dropping bombs and using bullets, using lethal force/full military action/war or killing people) So, there is the need for the Niger Delta Avengers to see reason and dialogue with government Each time the army goes out to work, it works in support of the civil authority and we will continue to do that. If there is a need for the military authority to support the civil authority (during Rivers July 30 rerun), based on need from the police, we will continue to do just that''
