SEE WHAT THE PEOPLE OF BENIN WERE ADVICE NOT TO DO ON SUNDAY

According to reports, people of Benin kingdom are yet to observe another ‘unusual’ rite in preparation of their oba’s burial Following reports that chiefs in the Benin kingdom were asked to shave their heads in observance of Oba Erediauwa’s passing, more activities have been announced. Indigenes of Benin kingdom have reportedly been advised not to cook with fire on Sunday, June 5. The day is supposed to be observed as the Igberimwin day, according to royal funeral rites, in continuation of the 15 days funeral rites of the late monarch. According to a press statement reportedly signed by the secretary to the Benin Traditional Council, Mr Frank Irabor, the ‘no cooking with fire’ order was in accordance to Benin customs and tradition. All indigenes and non-indigenes based in Benin kingdom are reportedly expected to observe the Igberimwin rites.
