Femi Fani Kayode might to prison

The court has ordered for former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode and former Finance Minister, Nenadi Usman, and Danjuma Yusuf to remain in prison custody until July 4, when a court will rule on their application for bail

After a long argument between the prosecutor and the defense counsel, Justice M. S. Hassan of the Federal High Court Ikoyi on Friday, July 1, adjourned the ruling for bail on the case involving Nenadi, Fani-Kayode and Yusuf
The lawyers defending the accused urged the court to grant bail to their clients on self-recognizance or liberal terms.
N.M. Anana, the prosecutor representing the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), had filed counter affidavits opposing bail for the three defendants. The lawyer opposed the bail application on the grounds that the defendants might unduly influence the case against them by intimidating witnesses, tampering with evidence, and hindering the investigation.
The former aviation minister was detained on May 9, after honouring an invitation by the EFCC to explain his role in an alleged looting of funds from the Central Bank of Nigeria.
on thursday june 28,the accused was arraigned on a 17 count charge bordering on conspiracy, stealing, corruption and making cash payments exceeding the amount authorized by law. They were alleged to have stolen and illegally disbursed about N4.9 billion Naira belonging to the Federal Government of Nigeria for political and personal uses

On June 29, Justice Adeboyega Adeniyi, dismissed a suit filed by Fani-Kayode, ruling that the EFCC was within its constitutional powers to have detained him for 50 days before he first appeared before the court.
