Dino Melaye after the wife of Bola Tinubu

The wife of the national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) Bola Tinubu, Oluremi, has sought police protection from Senator Dino Melaye, Sahara Reporters says. Senator Tinubu, who represents the Lagos central senatorial district in the Senate, appealed to the Acting Inspector-General of Police after the minacious July 14 behavior of Mr. Melaye towards her during a discussion
She writes: “It was the timely intervention of a number of colleagues which prevented Senator Melaye from unleashing a physical attack on me. “However, as the leadership of the Senate did not call him to order in the circumstance, he proceeded to threaten my life without any provocation whatsoever.” Senator Tinubu recalled Melaye’s antecedents in the federal legislature, saying:
“particularly in the House of Representatives where a brawl led by him had led to the untimely death of a member.” Oluremi added in the letter that she decided not to neglect his threat to her life''
It is not yet clear if the Acting IGP has received Senator Tinubu’s request. Different senators who were present during the fracas told reporters that Mr. Melaye said he would beat up and impregnate Senator Tinubu and that he would subject no repercussions.

He later declined the reports, but not the fracas, without nooting exactly what he had said to Senator Tinubu during his outburst. APC leader Tinubu warned Mr. Melaye not to consider his own hype should he beat up another senator, saying the Kogi Senator had sunk to his “lowest ever.”

“From this point, it is downhill for him,” Tinubu promised, defining Melaye as “a disgrace to the Senate of the Republic‎.” A group of Lagos women loyal to Senator Tinubu on July 18, organise a street demonstration in the city against the harassment by Melaye. The women demanded a written apology for their senator.

Ghanian weight boxing champion defends Pastor TB JOSHUA

According to Ghana Times, Powers was reacting to accusations by a man of God in his country, Pastor Isaac Owusu Bempah, the General Overseer of the Glorious Way Chapel, who has warned his people several times to beware of Joshua, claiming that he is a false prophet and uses magic and evil powers to perform his miracles.
But Powers, however, lambasted Bempah for uttering those words, describing Joshua as the second Jesus Christ, adding that the prophet’s good works were enough to describe him as such.

Powers was quoted as saying:“There is absolutely no comparison between the SCOAN pastor and Owusu Bempah. Pastors like Bempah just envy T.B Joshua
Bempah you have been sitting down there doing practically nothing. If you want to talk about some prophets or any prophet, don’t mention T.B Joshua there, you are not his class. Prophet T.B Joshua no size o.
Prophet T.B Joshua is the second Jesus Christ; so some of the pastors, you people should not envy that man."It’s prophet T.B Joshua who gave me the money to buy a car, an Audi A4. How many pastors can do that? He feeds millions of people, pays school fees and so many other things,What T. B Joshua is doing for the world, can some of these pastors do them? They just use Bibles to cheat and deceive people, always talking bad about the good prophets.”

Punch reports that in Barakuta, besides the loss of lives, several persons were injured, property worth millions of Naira including houses, vehicles and motorcycles were razed and many others injured.  “Nobody has the power or right to take the life of others''

These senseless and unwarranted killings cannot and will not be condoned. You cannot just take machete and kill somebody because of disagreement. There are laws and nobody can claim to be above the law. Whatever maybe the grievances, people cannot take laws into their hands. I have instructed the chairmen of the affected councils, commissioner of police and my special adviser on security to fish out the masterminds of the two clashes as well as their accomplices. I have also directed for comprehensive investigations into the incidences with a view to prosecuting and bringing to book the culprits. We are determined to bring an end to this barbaric act. The Police and other security agencies should ensure that we get to the root of these sad events, prosecute and punish those found culpable”. The governor directed that while State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) ensures the comfort of the displaced persons, the police should provide adequate protection for the displaced persons at the camp. “I sympathise with you people over the unfortunate incident here at Lamba, now that peace as returned, I implore you all to go after your duties and business without fear. Government is on top of the situation and we shall ensure the security of our people and their properties, including their farms and animals,” the governor assured the people of Lamba.
